The RYA teaching methods used have been developed successfully over many years. You will be introduced to some techniques which have become standardised because it is important the RYA instruction should follow broadly the same pattern in every training centre.
It’s the roles of our Instructors to help students learn through teaching them practical and theoretical aspects of the sport. Mostly involving the explanation and demonstration of techniques that are new to them.
People of all ages can learn to Sail with us. Whether you are a complete beginner, or you wish to update your previous Sailing skills, as you are feeling a bit rusty – there is something for everyone.
History of Sailing in Salcombe
The Official Guide of Salcombe 1962 – “Sailing - though the open sea is at hand for those who want to Sail upon it, Salcombe’s greatest attraction for the ‘little boat’ man is that it’s harbour and creeks provide all the safety and ease of Sailing of a great inland lake…..”
Safety comes first, always!
We are a recognised RYA Training Centre. We are annually inspected for standards of tuition, equipment and safety checks, as laid down by RYA Training.
We have qualified Instructors, suitable boats and adequate safety cover. We display a Certificate of Recognition which specifies the Sailing courses we are recognised for. We have a public liability insurance policy for £5,000,000.
Our boats are licenced, well maintained and also regularly inspected by the Salcombe Harbour Authority.
