RYA Sailability
We are a recognised RYA Sailability Training Centre, offering sailing opportunities to people of all ages and abilities.
Sailability is the RYA’s national programme enabling people with disabilities to try sailing and take part regularly. Whether you want to experience the tranquillity and freedom of being on the water, or you’re ready to increase and progress your skills to race and compete with other sailors, Sailability at Salcombe Dinghy Sailing will help you get there.
You don’t need to be able-bodied or a strong swimmer to go sailing. Safety and enjoyment are our priorities, and we’ll make sure you have the best time!
We can offer Sailing in small dinghies ensuring each member of the group gets to have a try. We also have bigger boats that can take you all out together for a cruise.
Small Changes, big differences – with RYA Sailability.
These regular sailing sessions will be available for people with disabilities, no matter what their age or ability, to help them learn a new skill, experience freedom on the water and enjoy a great social life.
"What a lovely afternoon! Please thank Ross and Mike for their enthusiastic encouragement and guidance - windy but fun. Linda (who was in the boat with me) had a huge smile - what an experience for her – her husband has dementia, she so enjoyed herself. Great success - thanks."

"Please thank Ross and Mike for a lovely and enjoyable afternoon sailing. Despite rain and gusty winds, we all had a great time on the water. Best wishes.

"What an amazing day I had with Ross and Malcolm and the sunshine. Fairly surreal that I was actually outdoors, on a boat and learning a new skill. Malcolm is the most amazing empathetic, intuitive trainer I've ever met. My anxiety and depression lifted, and I felt joyous for the first time in over a year! I would really love to do some more. My hope is to rest this summer and hope my disease goes into remission. I have flagged you all over my Facebook page which is linked to local/ national disability groups added you onto several local disability forums online. Thank you for the opportunity, Zoe. It really was life affirming for me and has given me a reason to fight and a goal to head for"
