Safety

checkmrk.gif (1010 bytes)

Our boats are licensed, well maintained and regularly inspected by the harbour authorities.
checkmrk.gif (1010 bytes) A Searider rescue boat looks after the fleet and is available to help with tuition.  A second rescue boat is used as an  escort and water taxi.
checkmrk.gif (1010 bytes) All sailing is supervised by a RYA Senior Instructor who has appropriate First Aid and Rescue Boat training.
checkmrk.gif (1010 bytes) Sailing takes place within the estuary and we sometimes impose further  limits if these are necessary for safety.
checkmrk.gif (1010 bytes) Buoyancy aids are provided and must be worn at all times.
checkmrk.gif (1010 bytes) All persons going on the water should be confident swimmers and in a good state of health.
checkmrk.gif (1010 bytes) Salcombe Dinghy Sailing is AALA Licensed.  This means that we have undergone statutory visits, checks and safety inspections and can teach unaccompanied children.
The owner of the business, John Whitelock is also the chief instructor.  He is a RYA Senior Instructor and licensed local boatman. He worked at Portsmouth Sailing Centre for 6 years and was principal of Hamble for 10 years. He is very experienced at teaching sailing to both adults and children.
During the summer holidays he is assisted by a number of highly competent RYA qualified seasonal staff.
